They may not always pertain to LAA or anime, but I think they’re still pretty interesting.  So the first Spotlight is going to be on the upcoming film titled The Book of Eli.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world were civilization has collapsed and clean water has become the prime currency. Denzel Washington plays a lone hero who carries a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. In his journey he must fend off gangs and a brutal tyrant in the desolate wasteland. Gary Oldman will play the film’s villain, a despot of a small and pathetic town, who’s determined to get a hold of Eli’s book, a book that may save Mankind.”

The film was written by Gary Whitta who (interestingly enough) was writing the screenplay for the live action Akira movie.  And directed by the Houghs brothers (From Hell, Dead Presidents).

No trailer has been released yet but plenty of images, posters, and a behind the scenes video (see below).  The most recently released piece of media however are the cool comic posters that are going to be featured at Comic Con during The Book of Eli panel.  Next to those is the official poster for the film.

And finally that behind the scenes featurette that I mentioned earlier.  This was from an episode of Entertainment Tonight.  In it they give some hints as to why the world looks the way it does.  This is really what got me excited for this movie.

The Book Of Eli releases January 15, 2010.
