A teaser for Production I.G.‘s upcoming animated film Bungaku Shojo was added to the official website for the film recently.

Based on a series of light novels by Mizuki Nomura, the story revolves around the only two members of a high school literary club: the president, a senior named Toko Amano and author Konoha Inoue. Inoue once wrote a novel under the pen name “Miu” which went on to become wildly popular, but the experience of going uncredited made him wary of releasing his work publicly ever again. Luckily, his senpai Amano is a yokai (mystical creature), who gets sustenance by literally devouring stories, giving Inoue a reason to continue writing new works everyday.

“Bungaku Shojo” will be released during Golden Week 2010 (sometime in April or May).

Here’s the teaser for the upcoming Gintama film.

Based on a Hideaki Sorachi manga, Gintama was first adapted to an anime series by Sunrise and has been airing on TV Tokyo since 2006. The new film will be based on the Benizakura story arc from episodes 58-61 of season 2 of the series.

The film will be released by Warner Bros. sometime during Golden Week 2010 (April or May).

The stories center around the various odd patients of psychiatrist Ichirō Irabu; Sugimoto’s character is an assistant to Irabu. Yuji Mitsuya and Romi Paku are splitting the shared role of Ichirō Irabu since the character takes on three different forms.

A body was found near the mountain that Crayon Shin-chan creator Yoshito Usui was planning on climbing. Reports say that the body found was wearing similar cloths to those Yoshito Usui was wearing the day he went missing. The body was discovered by another climber who said it was in a spot not easily accessible and he most likely fell from above well trying to climb. Authority’s won’t know for sure if it is Yoshito Usui till Sunday when the body is to be recovered however Yoshito Usui has now been missing for over a week with no word from him.

According to Tokyograph, the new film is set in 2220 (17 years after the events of “Final Yamato”), at a time when Earth is threatened by an expanding black hole. As 300 million people prepare for evacuation, the fleet is suddenly attacked. The Yamato, now captained by the 38-year-old Susumu Kodai, is forced to retaliate. Also aboard are Susumu’s wife Yuki and their daughter Miyuki.

“Space Battleship Yamato: Rebirth Chapter” will release in Japan on December 12, 2009.

Both trailers were revealed at San Diego Comic Con and according to writer Warren Ellis are “intended to show off the style of the piece only. Nothing in here reflects the actual content, just the design and the aesthetic and the animation.”  These projects team long time Marvel writer Warren Ellis with renowned Japanese animation studio Madhouse.
