Movie Web has the 90-second clip on their website.  The video has footage of the final days of shooting for the film, including some insight from the cast members themselves.  Priest will be hitting theaters on January 14th, 2011.  TO discuss more on this film, you can head on over to our forums.

The screenwriter, Laeta Kalogridis, also noted that fans should “cross your fingers”, because it has a female lead, which me be a bit of a road bump for a Hollywood film unfortunately.  Also of note, was that she spoke at a Q&A session after a screening of the new film Shutter Island.  At one time, Kalogridis was to pen the script for James Cameron’s adaptation of Battle Angel Alita.  When asked about the film’s status, she answered, “You have to ask Jim”.  So it seems quite a tight lip is on these two anime adaptations right now.  Stay tuned for hopefully more in the coming weeks.  For now, you can discuss this over on our forums.

In the interview, Chou went on to say, “there is a lot of paperwork to clear, but once that’s resolved, I think it would be on the fast track, so we’re hoping that it’ll start moving even next year.
“Right now we’re with a producer and a studio that really understands beyond the whole mecha impact.” Chou added, “They’re really looking beyond that, and really looking at drama, human elements, even to those elements that appeal to otaku.” He also added another reason the movie was pushed back was due to the anime market crash, but it seems that things are looking better, and thus a better environment for this movie to come out.

In addition to the pictures, the trailer for the film will be shown during the Super Bowl on February 7th.  Producer Frank Marshall announced through his Twitter today that all 4 types of bending will be seen both in the Super Bowl commercial and theatrical trailer.  To discuss all this Airbender news, head on over to our forums.

Director Yukihiko Tsutsumi (20th Century Boys, Ikebukuro West Gate Park) began filming for the movie late last summer, and the film is slated for a Fall 2010 release.  This film will differe from the series however, in that the main protaginist will be Ryusuke Minami while the manga and anime focused more on Koyuki Tanaka.  To discuss more on this film, check out our forums.

The movie which was originally called Battle Angel, has had the “Alita” tacked back on just as the story was originally called.  In the video interview, Cameron says, “The mixture of live-action and CG is a little trickier in 3-D than it is 2-D,” Cameron told MTV News. “Now we see it’s good to have done ‘Avatar’ first before ‘Battle Angel,’ because the tricky scenes are where you’re blending live-action photography, stereoscopic photography and CG.”

Surprisngly, it looks like already a year’s worth of production has been put into the film, and now awaits the most important part.  The cast.  “We’re not that far down the line,” Cameron continued. “We have a very good script and we’ve done a lot of production design. We’ve done about a year of production design and we’ve put together an art reel that shows the arc of the film.”

The manga, which was already turned into a live TV show in Japan, follows the life of Yataro “Saru” Sarmaru, a regular high school kid who dreams about idols, but has no luck at all with the girls.  But being the son of a locksmith, he’ a lock picking genius.  To discuss the upcoming movie, hea on over to our forums.

“I love Death Note, and we were, kind of, working on it right now. You know, it’s not…it’s definitely not something that would be coming up soon. [Turns to Me and Orson Welles director Richard Linklater] What’s the classic answer, Rick? ‘It’s not on the front burner.’ No, no, it’s something that was … I feel like, regardless of whatever I say, it’s going to be [interpreted by th media to be] my next movie. No, it’s not. It was an idea. Who knows? I had a meeting on it.”

What a front burner is, I don’t know. But it appears that the Death Note movie is on the “back burner” for the time being.  If you remember, Efron said he had shown interest in starring ina Full Metal Panic live action movie, but that didn’t work out either.  Vertigo Entertainment is behind the remake of the Death Note movie, and so far not much else has been revealed.  And it seems with Efron’s comments, we may be waiting a while until we hear more.  To discuss, head on over to our forums.
