Dragonball Footage Shown at Cinema Expo

June 25, 2008

Screen Daily has a short recap up from the Cinema Expo in Amsterdam.  In the article they mention that delegates at the expo were shown footage/trailers/teasers of upcoming Fox films, including Dragonball.

So the speculation now is was it just footage or was it a trailer?  If it was a trailer than I would guess that it won't be too long before it hits the public.  Time will tell.

To read the full article visit Screen Daily.

Two More Transformers Videos!

June 24, 2008

Transformers.movichronicles.com has put up two more videos.  These coming from PhillyFilmGirl.

The first isn't too interesting.  It shows Megan Fox and Ramon Rodriguez stretching.

The second is more exciting though.  It shows what seems to be the return of Frenzy attacking a car.  What's cool about it is that it's animatronic.  So at least that shows that not everything in the movie is going to be CGI!

Transformers "2" No More; New Bumblebee Pics

June 23rd, 2008

Having "2" in a title never has had that quite great a ring to it.  It would seem that the people working on the new Transformers movie have to agree.  According to Super Hero Hype, the "2" will be dropped off the film's title and simply be called, "Transformers:  Revenge of the Fallen".

Also, it would seem that Bumblebee will now be getting a new makeover for the sequel.  Jalopink has some new pictures of the car, a 2010 Camaro featuring the Bumblebee paint job. Don't forget, you can disucss all this over on our Forums.

Seems that the American version of Shonen Jump is one of the first publications in North America to show a little insight and pictures on the upcoming DragonBall movie.  All the news is old, but nonetheless, it's spreading the word to fans who may not be aware of the movie's progress.  The original scan is from DBMB:

The issue should be on newstands now, so pick it up if you get the chance. You can also discuss this over on our Forums

New Distributor/Cast Members For AstroBoy - Plus Gatchaman!

June 16, 2008

In a recent press release from Imagi Studios (TMNT), sent to Latino Review, it was revealed that an agreement has been entered into with Summit Entertainment for worldwide distribution rights.  This would exclude territories that Imagi has reserved which are:  US, Japan, Hong Kong, and China.  Word came from a joint announcement by Rob Friedman, Co-Chairman and CEO of Summit Entertainment and Douglas Glen, CEO of Imagi Studios.

"We are pleased to join with Imagi Studios in bringing the exceptional world of ASTRO BOY to both existing and a new generation of fans alike,' said Friedman. 'The team at Imagi Studios is capturing the spirit of this popular post-modern franchise by doing great things with the story, characters and animation. ASTRO BOY promises to be an excellent addition to our existing slate of family films."

Joining the cast of the CGI Animated film will be Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland,Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy. And, as previously reported, Astro Boy will be voiced by Freddie Highmore.

Astroboy, directed by David Bowers, is set in futuristic Metro City and is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving father's expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City andreconcile with the man who had rejected him.  It's based on the 50's/60's Japanese manga/anime of the same name.

Some other news from Imagi is that they're currently working on another anime inspired film with Gatchaman.

There isn't any new news on this but I don't believe we've reported on it since our home page came online.  I figured now is a good time to let those fans know who aren't aware.

Gatchaman will be a CG-animated feature film.  It's based on the anime television series from the 70's titled Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.  When aired in the U.S. it was known as Battle of the Planets and G-Force.

"Set in a future world grappling with environmental and technological issues, the story focuses on five reluctant heros whose remarkable genetic code make them Earth's only hope of defeating extra-terrestrial invaders.  Gatchaman will be a big, effect-rich movie with some of the most ambitious action sequences ever seen in animation."

Check out Imagi Studio's official page for some cool pictures from the production!   Just click on the Gatchaman link under films.

Both AstroBoy and Gatchaman are slated for a 2009 release date.

And as always don't forget you can discuss all this news on our Forums!

June 16, 2008

Another picture from the expo in New York has surfaced via the Super Hero Hype boards.  Only thing is, this particualr picture might disappoint more than the others.  Read on:

So apparently, Fox wants a PG rating for this movie, even though it was previously believed they'd be shooting for a PG-13 rating.  What does this mean for the actual movie?  Only time will tell.  For now, you can discuss this over on our Forums.

June 14, 2008

I'm a little late getting this up here but Jenova Anime recently put up a few set pics from Dragonball.  They're a little blurry and hard to make out exactly what's going on.  But it looks to be during the world tournament with Chi-Chi fighting Mai.

"Cloud Strife" the user that posted these up, says there will be a video coming soon.

Until then you can join the ongoing discussion in our Forum!

The Last Airbender Next For Shyamalan!

June 11, 2008

SciFi Wire recently spoke to Director M. Knight Shyamalan, where he told them he was excited to get started on The Last Airbender.

"It has martial arts and spirituality and the supernatural, and it has Buddhist philosophy and Hindu philosophy--really, everything I talk about--all in one movie," Shyamalan said in an interview while promoting his latest writing and directing effort, The Happening."

The film will be a live action adaptation of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender.  The film is now in pre-production and is slated for a 2010 release.

Surprise...Surprise...Surprise!

June 10, 2008

In a MOST SHOCKING turn of events (and yes I'm being sarcastic) the so called "leaked script" of Ben Ramsey's has been reported as a "fake."  I say "fake" because it's be confirmed that it isn't the script for the movie.  However, we don't know if it's actually Ben Ramsey's script or not.

The confirmation come from Joker over at MovieLand.   He says he emailed Christina Inman, manager of Fox in Mexico and she said not to worry as this is not being used on the film.

Joker also mentions the fragment pages of the script which appeared on the internet around the same time (which you can view here), he says they're real as they were left behind in a restaurant by a crew member.

American Death Note Remake in Development

June 9, 2008

With the recent success that the Death Note live action movie had in US theater's last month (over 65,000 tickets sold in two days), it would seem that past rumors of an English remake are going to come true.  ANN reported recently that Vertigo Entertainment will be making a new adaptation.

Vertigo is the production company that brought us remakes of other classic Japanese movies such as The Grudge and Shutter.  Vlas and Charles Parlapanides are going to be writing the new script.  Nothing else is known on the project, but we'll let you know once more info is out there. For now, you can discuss this news over on our Forums.

Rumor:  DragonBall Script Leaked?

June 8, 2008

Seems that recently there has been a lot of rumors going around the web, and IMDB, that the script for the DragonBall live action movie has been leaked, the original written by Ben Ramsey.  Thanks to BIGBMH for the heads up.  Now keep in mind, we have no way of validating the autheticity of this supposed script.

Chances would be high it's a fake as anybody could write up a script, as many people have already done on our forums.  So it'd be best to take whatever you read from this with a grain of salt at this time.  If you want to check it out, you can read it HERE.

Don't forget you can discuss all of this over on our Forums.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen!

June 6, 2008

According to an article at Hasbro.com the official title for Transformers 2 is Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen.

The site says that you can"expect a key character from the first movie to make a dramatic comeback and attempt to settle a score."

This seems to confirm the previous news that Jazz will be returning.

However, Latino Review posted up an interesting message that they had recieved from a reader which said:

"The Fallen is a Transformer in the Generation 1 continuity family (and possibly in more).

At the dawn of time, Primus created new life, the 13 original Transformers, to crew his planetary form into battle against his eternal nemesis Unicron. One of these 13, his original name now lost to the mists of time, turned against his siblings, his creator, and his universe, and betrayed them all."

Click here to go to Latino Review to read the full message.

Also tfw2005.com got their hands on a leaked call sheet.  They also say that, "A lot of it is speculative, however TFW2005 can verify that the mentioned "Arcee Motorcycles" are on set, and have been seen by myself and 2005 Boards Member BMGFX."

Interview on Batman Manga!

June 5, 2008

Publisher's Weekly has an interesting interview up with Yoshinori Natsume (Togari) on his American debut of Batman: Death Mask, a 4-issue miniseries published by DC Comics.

Here's a snippet:

"PW Comics Week: How did this project develop? Is there something that drew you to the Batman character?

Yoshinori Natsume: While I was looking for a company to publish Togari in America, I met someone from DC Comics. After looking at my series, he asked me, “How would you like to try doing 'Batman'?” At first, I was at a loss for words when asked to participate in the ongoing saga of a legendary character. I was thinking, “Are you sure you’ve got the right guy?” But then I reflected that in Japan, I made my mark on a series about a dark hero with a tragic past, done in a very shadowy style. Anyway, as the days went by, the image I had of Batman grew bigger and bigger in my mind, until I felt like, “You know, I might actually be able to do this.”

PWCW: What was your previous exposure to Batman? Did you do any research for this project?

YN: My first experience was with the Tim Burton movies, but after that a friend of mine lent me [Frank Miller’s] The Dark Knight Returns and other Batman comics. For this project, I was given Jim Lee’s Batman: Hush and some other books. I’ll tell you, I was blown away by the art in today’s American comics. After that, I got to reading various titles that caught my attention. Incidentally, this is just a coincidence, but when I was a kid, a bat flew into my room one night. I caught it, set it free outside and let it slip my mind. 20 years later, before starting work on this, I suddenly remembered what happened that night."

In Death Mask, Batman investigates his own past as the city of Gotham is terrorized by a serial killer who has ties to the martial arts training that turned millionaire Bruce Wayne into the Dark Knight.

New Cast Member, Pictures, and Video!

June 3, 2008

Some more great Transformers 2 news flowing in.  First up MTV Movie Blogs has the scoop of the newest cast member to climb aboard Transformers 2.  His name, Mathew Marsden.

"Marsden has been cast in the role of “Graham,” a character who is part of the British Special Forces. Although the film’s plot is being kept under the tightest veils of secrecy, it is known that the flick will depict an even more worldly battle than the first “Transformers” film, and will shoot all over the globe. In the sequel, Graham teams with Duhamel and Tyrese’s military characters, joining their efforts as they do battle with the evil Decepticons."

20 Transformers?

June 2, 2008

Screenwriter Roberto Orci recently made a comment, regarding the number of robots in Transformers, on the Don Murphy Message board saying:

"I'd love and think we could almost barely manage ten on each side, with some front and center and others as more supporting."

So will we be seeing 10 Autobots and 10 Decepticons? That would be one hell of a fight!

Don't forget you can discuss this on our Transformer Movie Forums!

note: Don Murphy is a producer.

Forum Server Problems

June 1, 2008

Some of you might be experiencing problems accessing our forums.  It seems that it's an on and off thing and we're currently looking into it.  We are not sure if it is related to the recent Zetaboards conversion or not, but when trying to access the official Zetaboard's website, the same thing happens.  So it would appear to be some sort of server problem on Zetaboard's end.

Perhaps it's matienence or they're having problems themselves.  Just keep trying and hopefully it'll straighten itself out soon.  In the meantime we'll be doing whatever we can to try to remedy the problem and get the boards running again as soon as possible.  Try refreshing the page a few times or post the link to the forum in another window, those seem to work with some success.  We'll also have the next podcast up for you guys late tonight or tomorrow to hold you over.

Thank you for your patience.
