Priest release date moved forward
Thanks go to ANN for this bit of information on the upcoming live-action adaptation of Priest, the Korean horror manhwa by Min-Woo Hyung. It seems the film’s release date, previously announced as October 1st, 2010, will be getting pushed forward to August 27th. The shift is attributed to the announcement Resident Evil: Afterlife will be getting moved back from August 27th to January 14th, 2011. This puts Priest at the periphery of the blockbuster season.
The movie stars Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet, and will be set in a postapocalyptic future where Bettany plays a priest hunting down a band of vampires who have kidnapped his neice. The story is a considerable deviation from that of the manhwa, and Tokyopop, publishers of the series in North America, have announced that they will be publishing Priest: Purgatory (an online graphic novel that bridges the gaps between the manhwa and the movie) in 2010.
