Ghost in the Shell LAA to be written by Shutter Island scribe.

Thanks go to Anime News Network for this bit of information. It seems that Dreamworks have hired Laeta Kalogridis – writer and executive producer of Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island – to do the script for the proposed live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s manga Ghost in the Shell. Kalogridis was also at one point hired as a writer for James Cameron’s Battla Angel Alita adaptation.

Kalogridis is succeeding this role from Jamie Moss (Street Kings, Last Man Home), and the film is to be produced by Steven Paul, Avi Arad (formerly of Marvel Studios) and his son, Ari.

After a long silence, it seems that the Ghost in the Shell LAA is still very much alive! Discuss this news further on the forums.
